For the past decade, I've worked alongside organizations and the communities they serve to help them solve problems and create new digital products and services through human-centered design.
I’m a generalist with deep expertise in creating functional and people-friendly user experiences for digital products. In addition to UX design, I lead research studies, design sprints, service design projects, and training workshops for people and organizations across the globe.
As a lead designer at Grameen Foundation’s AppLab, I designed and prototyped mobile financial services for people living on less than $2.00 per day. As a result, commercial banks in East Africa were able to tailor their services to the needs of their growing rural customer base. More recently, I worked with Blue State to design and launch a platform that helps low-income households in California access the state’s ecosystem of programs fighting climate change and economic inequality (dive into the project details).
Currently, I provide project-based services for agencies and in-house design teams. I also operate Nonlocal, a boutique UX design studio that helps organizations launch new or improved products and services.
I believe design is the key to unlocking collective ingenuity and tackling tough problems.
I navigate ambiguity and come out on the other side with clarity and action.
I’ve been around the block so my design instincts are built on well-earned successes and failures.
I’m grateful for a seat at the table and don’t take that for granted.
I invite zigs and zags because that’s how worthwhile solutions are discovered.
I’m accountable to my personal biases so that my work creates genuine change.
Every single action I take is process-oriented and guided by purpose.
